Red Foxes 1

By +Jeanne Takenaka @JeanneTakenaka

One Friday afternoon, as the boys and I arrived home from school, I peeked into our backyard. My heart lurched when I spied two red foxes lounging in the grass as if they owned the place. They looked so cute as they soaked in the winter sunlight. When I opened the kitchen window to snap a picture, they stared back at me without a trace of  fear in their eyes.

They’d found their home.

For Valentine gifts I bought my grandkids little perpetual motion critters ~ a monkey and a bear. They are solar powered and spend the day dancing happily beside each other. I got to watching them and suddenly they were preaching a sermon to me.

Their smiles never faded; their motion never stopped ~ so long as they were in the light. There is the key! They are sun-powered, light powered. So long as the light was loading their batteries, they kept dancing. I thought, “wow, just like us. We are Son powered too! And so long as we keep facing the Light, we are energized. Our spirits are like batteries, and we need to keep taking in the light of the Word. It empowers us to continue our dance of life fulfilling the purpose for which God created us.

The Word of God is the food of our spirits, the source of our energy. Remember how John 1 says “in the beginning was the Word… and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us? Jesus is the Word! Take in the Word, consume it. The book Cast Up A Highway says in Chapter 6:

The Word of God is a powerful tool for us always, because God can use it to dialogue with us and enrich us. It’s a tremendous encouragement in difficult times. God’s wisdom in the Word can cover every problem we may encounter. Its plenteousness is a fortifier. It’s like pouring liquid metal into a mold: when it hardens, a solid shape is formed. Likewise, as we pour the Word into our hearts, it brings an inner metal-like strength in the formation of the invincible columns of our highway. This strength creates minds and hearts that are massively strong and hugely enduring to successfully maintain the integrity of our highway. The Word of God absorbed in our hearts will vanquish the enemy. Jesus used the Word to confound Satan when he tried to tempt Jesus in the desert. . .

Allow the power of the Word of God to engulf you, fill you with its richness! You will be changed!
